Located on the famous Amalfi drive, minutes from the famous town of Amalfi, the Santa Caterina enjoys a panoramic coastal setting of incomparable beauty. The hotel is site at the summit of an extensive property, which begins along the Amalfi drive and tumbles down to the water on a series of landscaped natural terraces. Each of the 66 luminous rooms and suites have a balcony or a terrace or large windows with view on the Amalfi coast. Many have a large terrace or garden. They are furnished with early 20th century family pieces and decorated with Vietri multi-coloured ceramics. The rooms emphasise the atmosphere of exquisite welcome: each is different from the other and is enriched by a touch of fantasy. The suites are stunning, in particular "Romeo and Juliet" (an intimate two-storey chalet perched on the cliff above the sea), "Follia Amalfitana" immersed in the citrus grove, "Casa dell'Arancio" (House of the Orange), "Vite" (Grapevine), "Glicine" (Wisteria), "Campanule" (Bellflowers) and "Limoni" (Lemons). There are two restaurants. From mid-May to mid-October, lunch is served on a handsome terrace overlooking the sea and pool and guests returning from morning excursions mingle with those who have built up good appetites in a relaxing morning of sunning and swimming in the inviting sea and pool. The regional menu includes wood-fired oven pizzas, seafood-sauced pastas, grilled local fish, a tempting buffet selection and buffalo mozzarella grilled in the hotel’s own lemon leaves. On the upper level, the main dining room is unusually beautiful, with solid marble and lapis floors, perfect lines and china, tasteful floral table bouquets and garlanding the ceiling and upper walls, a lush year-round display of flowering bougainvillaea, which brings the outdoors into the dining room. The restaurant has won acclaim both nationally and internationally.
